What is a COMcheck? What is a REScheck? What is Energy Code Compliance?

COMcheck is software based compliance verification designed and maintained by the United States Department of Energy (ENERGY.GOV). COMcheck is used for commercial construction. It is used by architects, builders, designers, and contractors to determine whether new commercial or high-rise residential buildings, homes, additions, and alterations meet the requirements of the IECC and ASHRAE Standard 90.1, as well as several state-specific codes. These "checks" also simplify compliance for building officials, plan checkers, and inspectors by allowing them to quickly determine if a building project meets the code. It will also provide the minimum values for insulation and fenestrations.

REScheck is residential energy code compliance software. Residential energy code compliance shows the exterior walls, windows, doors, roof, floor, and other components are insulated in a manner that meets the local building code energy minimums. Some jurisdictions are requiring the residential builder to show HVAC, Water Heater, and lighting compliance, as well.
